Bio

Wildlife photography is a hobby for me. While I am based in New Zealand I travel the world in my photographic pursuit. I am lucky to have seen places visited by few people as a result.

Connecting with nature brings many benefits but sadly we are living in a time of increasing threats to wildlife. My aim is to showcase the wonders and beauty of nature to encourage ongoing commitment and not to further lose what we currently have.

Images on this site have been made from the Arctic in the north to Antarctica in the south and many places in between. Through those experiences my passion in wildlife photography has continued to develop. For wildlife photography to truly connect, the aim is to generate emotional responses to the imagery. This is my ongoing quest in my photography.

Along the way I have received many awards. A few highlights include:

  • Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) National salon Best Natural History Print Image 2025 (Hungry Emperor Penguin chick)

  • PSNZ Geoff Moon Nature Trophy for digital image that best illustrates New Zealand nature (White Fronted Tern wing touch)

  • Image (Banking Fulmar in the snow) included in Bird Photographer of the Year Collection 9 book in association with the Bird Photographer of the Year 2024 competition

  • FIAP gold medal at Taprobana (Sri Lanka) 2024 for “white fronted tern wing touch”

  • Champion image and gold medal at the 2023 North Shore Salon of Photography for my image “Arctic Fox”

  • Victory P.W. Gold medal in Grade Circuit (Serbia) 2023 for “Arctic Fox in a snowstorm”

  • PSA Gold medal in Photo Panorama (Serbia) 2023 for “side by side”

  • PC Perasto Gold medal in CMYK (Serbia) 2023 for “King penguins on South Georgia”

  • FIAP blue ribbon in Sunflower (Czech Republic) 2022 for “The long twilight”

  • Champion open digital image for “Iceberg serration” in the 2020 Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) annual salon.

I have also received honours from the PSNZ (Fellow of the PSNZ or FPSNZ) and the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) in the form of Excellence FIAP (EFIAP). For my full FPSNZ set please go here .
