Wildlife photographer based in New Zealand but travels the world in his photography pursuit.

Connecting with nature brings many benefits. Photography has the ability to showcase moments in time that are often missed by casual observation. We are living in a time of increasing threats to wildlife. My aim is to showcase the wonders and beauty of nature to encourage ongoing commitment and not to further lose what we currently have.

I have been lucky to travel to far flung places around the globe from the Arctic in the north to Antarctica in the south and many places in between. Through those experiences a keen interest and passion has developed in wildlife photography. For wildlife photography to truly connect, the aim is to generate emotional responses to the imagery. This is my ongoing quest in my photography.

Along the way I have received many awards. A few highlights include:

  • Image (Banking Fulmar in the snow) included in Bird Photographer of the Year Collection 9 book in association with the Bird Photographer of the Year 2024 competition

  • FIAP gold medal at Taprobana (Sri Lanka) 2024 for “white fronted tern wing touch”

  • Champion image and gold medal at the 2023 North Shore Salon of Photography for my image “Arctic Fox”

  • Victory P.W. Gold medal in Grade Circuit (Serbia) 2023 for “Arctic Fox in a snowstorm”

  • PSA Gold medal in Photo Panorama (Serbia) 2023 for “side by side”

  • PC Perasto Gold medal in CMYK (Serbia) 2023 for “King penguins on South Georgia”

  • FIAP blue ribbon in Sunflower (Czech Republic) 2022 for “The long twilight”

  • Champion open digital image for “Iceberg serration” in the 2020 Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) annual salon.

I have also received honours from the PSNZ (Associate PSNZ or APSNZ) and the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) in the form of Excellence FIAP (EFIAP).

All images on the site are for sale - feel free to contact me if you are interested in purchasing a print. Standard size of the prints are A2 but other sizes can be provided on request.

Artist’s statement

As an ethical wildlife photographer, my aim is to capture the raw beauty of nature while maintaining the integrity of the environment and its inhabitants. Each image is a testament to the delicate balance of ecosystems, a moment frozen in time that reflects the authenticity of wildlife in their natural habitat.

I adhere to a strict code of ethics that guides my practice: I do not clone or manipulate elements within my photographs other than to remove dust spots or to reduce noise in images (particularly those captured in low light conditions). I do not construct composite images other than stitching together multiple images to generate panoramas. This commitment to authenticity is not just about preserving the scene as it was; it’s about fostering a deeper connection between viewers and the natural world. I invite you to witness the reality of wildlife—its beauty, its struggles, and its resilience.

My hope is that each photograph inspires a sense of wonder and a call to action to protect the fragile ecosystems that support life. Together, let us celebrate the wild, not as something to be controlled or altered, but as a magnificent force deserving of our respect and protection.
